April Meeting
April 11, 2013  4:00 - 6:00 PM
There was a scheduling conflict and we lost the battle.  So we will meet on Thursday, April 11 (one day later than normal).  Chad Crawford, Database Architect at Henry Schein will speak on Formulating a Restore Strategy. Like SQL Users Group Meeting - DATE CHANGE on Facebook share on Twitter

Before you decide how to back up your database, you need to know how you want to restore your database.  We begin by reviewing data and log file internals to provide a foundation for what data each type of backup contains (dispelling a few age-old myths), then review the backup options SQL Server offers.  With that solid base, we will outline the questions you need to ask to develop a database restore strategy and what backup options support and enable the more common scenarios.  The demo portion of the presentation will include an example of restoring a database to a point in time immediately before a critical failure, and a partial restore that brings a database online before all the data has finished restoring.

March Meeting

March 13, 2013 from 4:00 - 6:00 PM:  Join us at HSPS for a presentation on Configuring a Highly Available Published database by Ben Miller.

Ben will go through the configuration steps needed to configure a Published database using a mirror failover so that when the database fails over, the replication still publishes. All the steps will be shown in a demo. Come network, eat some pizza and see how this works and ask questions.
