Welcome

Welcome to our Chapter Portal.

We are a group of SQL Server enthusiats that are located in Utah, south of Salt Lake City, in Utah County.  Geographiclaly, our chapter supports the entire Utah Valley area, from as far north as Point of the Mountain down south to the end of Utah Valley.  We do not have a decidated meeting location, and change locations depending on where we can get sponsored.  Typically we meet clost to the I-15 corridor, in Orem, Provo and even Springville.  We hope to expand the group of users, along with the possible meeting locations.  This allows us to reach more people in different locations in the Valley.

The goal of our group is to share knowledge about SQL Server, network with each other, and help each other out in our SQL Server and other technical needs.  Starting in 2008, we will be meeting every other month, and the day is yet to be determined.  Meetings will be at night, from 6-8.

Come out and support the local community, learn with us, and enjoy.

February Meeting

The Utah County SQL Server User Group meeting for February 14th. This will be combined with SLC SQL User Group.

Event Date: Monday,  February 14, 2011
Schedule:   3:00 pm - 5:00pm

Topic: Become a Bilingual DBA! Oracle for the SQL Server

Speaker: Randy Knight

In today's enterprise environments, it is becoming increasingly necessary to integrate data from a variety of sources. As SQL Server continues its march into the enterprise, the days of focusing 100% on one platform are over. At a bare minimum, we need to be able to communicate with DBA's for other platforms. Terminology as simple as Instance and Database mean very different things in Oracle than they do in SQL Server. In this session, we will compare and contrast the two platforms in terms of features and terminology. We will also discuss some of the best practices and pitfalls when integrating the two. .

Utah County SQL User Group will be viewing the presentation via Live Meeting at the Microsoft Offices in Lehi.

March Meeting Notes

We had a great meeting in March. We met at Cybersource (where TJay works) and tried out that facility for the first time. We were treated to a first time presentor from our group, Aaron Dayley. He did a great job talking about a topic that was close to his heart, Financial Data Rules Engine. TJay presentated on Best Practices for SQL Server and we had a lively discussion about this topic.

January Meeting Notes

We had a great meeting in January. We met at Neways and had presentations from Lars and TJay.
Pizza was scrumptious, the presentations were well done and educational, the networking was priceless.
